In the 1851 Census we find - John Faulkner 42 years - Shoemaker - born Lutterworth Mary Faulkner 40 years - his wife Joseph 16 years - son Mary Ann 7 years - daughter James 4 years - son
living at Elylane, Lutterworth.
In the publication Butchers, Bakers and Candlestick makers - trades in a Victorian
street, Lutterworth, Leicestershire there are a several mentions of this John Faulkner.
Mary Faulkner is listed in the 1841 Census as a shoebinder. In 1863 John Faulkner is a Newsagent in Ely Lane and by the time the 1871 Census is taken he has moved to Church Street where he lived with his wife Mary, son James and daughter Emma. Ten years later he was a widow and was running the business with son James. By the 1891 Census John had died and James had become the head of the household.
