'At a church meeting on Thursday March 3rd 1814 Mr William William (sic) Slater was unanimously chosen to the office of Deacon in the room of ThomasSturgis who had *declined serving the office sometime before* May the great head of the Church remove out of his spirit on him lately chosen and may he with the other three be blessed and made a blessing'
