St John’s Church houses the mausoleum of Job Charnock the founder of Calcutta, as well as the monuments commemorating those who died in the ‘Black Hole’. These have separate pages.
Other notables in St John’s are Admiral Watson, who with Clive liberated Calcutta. The church also contains the study of Warren Hastings the first Governor-general of India. |
